These photos are
what exists of my grandfather's Vaudeville groups. He traveled the Vaudeville
circuit for six years until the art form died because of talking movies. Grandfather
was too shy and reserved to make the transition, so he dropped out of show business.
None of the men who performed with him went on to other show business venues.
However, they all were enormously talented and musically gifted.
There were several
groups, made up of either three or four musicians. However, three of the men where
always part of each group: my grandfather, Harold "Harry" Franklin,
James "Biggie" Deal, and Carl "Shug" Shugart.
