Nude,
1995, acrylics
Painting in a realistic
genre with acrylics is a major challenge. The problem is smoothly blending the
paint. Also, I had difficulty getting the skin coloring the way I wanted it or
to get a transparent, gauzy effect for the billowing cloth. In fact, this poor
woman was painted over multiple times—at least five times—and I'm
still not satisfied with it or with her proportions. In fact, there is so much
paint on this canvas, I'm sure it could have covered the Golden Gate bridge more
than once.
